Fault Claims
Fault refers to conduct of a party contributing to the breakdown of the marital relationship. Although Michigan is a “no fault” state as far as filing for divorce is concerned, fault is a factor in the division of property, awarding spousal support, awarding attorney fees, and sometimes in child custody and parenting time issues.
