Annulment
An annulment is a declaration that a marriage is invalid because there was an impediment at the time of the marriage. Once an annulment decree has been entered, the parties generally are treated as though they were never married.
A marriage is deemed void if there is bigamy, polygamy, or consanguinity. A marriage may be voidable if either party is of nonage, lacks physical capacity or lacks mental capacity.
